California computer glitch mistakenly calls 800 Jurors
Posted by Maddie Alexander on May 4, 2012 - 12:10 PM |
Placer County Courthouse called 800 people in to jury duty on Tuesday. The problem: It was unexpected and a mistake by their current automated jury phone system. The system went into default mode and instantly informed prospective jurors they needed to show up the next day. The 700-800 people reported for duty, causing traffic to halt around the courthouse.
More companies are releasing products to help courts with the juror process. Infax's CourtSight Suite uses JuryCall to integrate with jury management systems, automating the process for each individual and effictively eliminating the glitches in voir dire confusion.
All jurors that were chosen for the Placer County Court Jury will have the rest of the week off to calm the choas. All people who came to court because of the glitch will not receive payment, but will receive a letter for work or school.
Court officals are in the process of fixing the system.

Infax appearance on PBS series America Revealed
Posted by Frank Steele on April 26, 2012 - 12:53 PM |
PBS is running a series called "America Revealed" this month. Its four episodes take a detailed look at U.S. infrastructure, with Episode 2 all about the transportation network, including a fascinating look at the upcoming NextGen GPS-based air traffic control system.
Host Yul Kwon talked to a 5-million-mile frequent flyer at George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, and our WinFIDS system there was used as a backdrop for the interview, as well as for video under the host's narration.
It's great to see our systems on TV, especially in a context other than "dozens of flights were cancelled because of inclement weather today."
Episode 2 may still be airing in your city, but if not, you can watch it online from the PBS website.

Facebook finishes 42-Foot QR Code; Infax simplifies
Posted by Maddie Alexander on March 26, 2012 - 4:48 PM |
Mark Zuckerburg asked his employees to help decorate Facebook’s new headquarters at 1 Hacker Way. What came out of this simple request was a 42-foot wide QR code on the roof.
Completed in tar and more impressively a 12 hour span, 30 people strategically painted the code that now leads to the Facebook website. Most people need a plane and a steady hand to scan this Quick Response code, but here in Atlanta, we shrunk the problem.
You might notice Infax’s QR codes are a bit easier to scan and will be coming to you in the bottom corners of our Marketing handouts, emails and presentations. As epic as Facebooks 42-foot code is…CourtSight’s QR codes lead you to DocketCall videos, JuryCall pictures, websites and possible discounts.
Stay tuned or scan here for more details.
